Sky Lanterns at Sunset

After a morning of diving, naps were in order.
And after naps, food.
And after food, the beach!

One of my favorite things about beach cities are the sunsets.
The sun reflecting in the water.
The palm tree silhouettes framing the view.
The way everything sparkles in warmth, if only for those few moments in time.

While spider and I played in the water and caught the last few rays of sunset from the tropical waters, the birthday boy was taking another cat nap on the beach.

Spider saw people walking up and down the beach selling sky lanterns and thought it would be a great gift for Chris!

So we lit it up and sent it off!
Off into the sky to make others that looked at it smile as well.

We caught the last few moments of sunset and went back to the hotel to get ready for a night of havoc checking out some of the spots Dave recommended.

Russian Thai Food

After our grand adventure of exploring Phi Phi, we were exhausted and starved.
Our very good friend Spider came to Phuket for a visit as well, and the first thing on the agenda was food.
Karon Beach is quite Russian (I loved this about the area) and I was homesick for Ukrainian food.
Behold in front of us was nothing else but... a Russian-Thai restaurant!

We might have gone a little overboard with the ordering.

We start with Olivye (my favorite Ukrainian/Russian salad).

Cashew chicken.

Green curry.

A little of everything.

Potato pancakes.

Pelemeni.

Coconut shake.

And rice.

I had at least 3 shakes.

And the boys were finally full enough to emerge from the grogginess of hunger.

Can you believe this is still only part the 2nd day in Thailand?

Day 3 was Chris's birthday and we had something very special planned.

Phuket Thailand

We wanted to do something really special for Chris's birthday this year.
And what can be more special than going to one of the most beautiful places on Earth?

Phuket, Thailand was that beautiful place.
We landed Friday evening and the absolute first thing I wanted to do was see crystal clear water.
I didn't care that everyone was already leaving the beach.
Or that the sun setting.
Or that my bathing suit wouldn't dry before dinner.
I just wanted to be in that water.

So I tied up my hair, kissed Chris "see you soon" and ran off into the sea.

The water was perfect.
Not too warm, but not too cold.
The waves were plenty, but not too high.
I had a smile ear-to-ear on my face.

I wrapped myself up in my beach cover up/blanket/dress and we went to scout a dinner place.

We found one that had everything.
And all I wanted was Thai.
Chris got a burger.
I got proper pad thai and green chicken curry.

A perfect first day is paradise.
