Mechanical Birds Need Love Too

Remember how I said Sentosa was all man-made?
Most nights a week there's a show on called Crane Dance. The show is about two massive steel birds that meet, fall in love, and through their love end up becoming real birds and fly away.
It's a fun thing to see if you're already on Sentosa, but not worth making the trip just to see this.
The show is something like I've never seen before. It's all mechanical, but done in a way you'd think a puppeteer was controlling it.

Life's A Beach

It's been two weeks since I wrote anything, not because I haven't wanted to but because I haven't had time to. The free time I do have now I have to choose between playing rugby or writing a blog post, and I choose rugby every time.
Today, I found time for both and you're in for a treat!

There's an island off of Singapore called Sentosa.
It's completely man made and looks like something from a movie.
There's a road around the island that's basically a closed-loop bus lane. Speakers hidden among the trees so the same tunes play throughout the island. Universal Studios. Wave-machines. Clubs and hotels. Something probably similar to Fantasy Island out of Pinocchio.

Touch

One of the best things I've done since coming to Singapore is start playing touch rugby. It's different to normal rugby same way as American football is different from touch football, therefore a lot more people can enjoy it.
It's amazing exercise running around for 2-3 hours in heat and humidity, starting and stopping, run forward, run back, down, up, jump, down, throw.
The biggest difference is you're not allowed to tackle the person with the ball, you simply touch them and they put the ball down. Another is instead of scrums to restart the play you just play the ball either by rolling it in between your legs, or if it's a penalty or successful try by touching it to your foot and going.
The views are incredible too! Most of the times we play on the river at the heart of the financial district. Other times we play on a man-made beach.
The best thing about playing though is the team; I only started a few weeks ago and they welcomed me (and any other new player) with open arms and taught me to play. Thanks team for being so great!
I'm already looking forward to the next game!
